CBT can effectively manage and treat anxiety disorders, OCD, depression, and emotional disregulation. Our goal is to help you develop an effective skillset rooted in evidence-based therapy,  so that you can live a more fulfilling and meaningful life.

What is CBT Therapy?

CBT therapy is a form of psychotherapy that focuses on helping individuals identify and change negative patterns of thinking and behavior. It involves working with a trained therapist to learn skills such as relaxation techniques, challenging negative thoughts, and problem-solving. CBT has been extensively researched and has shown to be an effective treatment for a variety of mental health concerns, including anxiety disorders, OCD, depression, and emotional disregulation.

How Does CBT Work?

CBT is based on the belief that our thoughts, feelings, and behaviors are interconnected. By changing the way we think about a situation, we can change how we feel and behave in response to it. During therapy sessions, you will work with your therapist to identify patterns of unhelpful thoughts and behaviors that contribute to your difficulties. You will then learn strategies and techniques to challenge these negative patterns and develop more adaptive ways of thinking.

What is Exposure and Response Prevention?

Exposure and Response Prevention (ERP) is a specific type of CBT that focuses on treating anxiety disorders, specifically Obsessive Compulsive Disorder (OCD). ERP involves gradually exposing individuals to feared situations or objects while preventing them from engaging in their usual compulsive behaviors. This process allows individuals to confront their fears and learn that they can tolerate the associated anxiety without relying on compulsions.

  • Anxiety Disorders:

Anxiety disorders, such as generalized anxiety disorder, panic disorder, and social anxiety disorder, are characterized by excessive worry and fear. CBT is often recommended as the first-line treatment for these disorders. It helps individuals identify their negative thought patterns and challenge them with more realistic thoughts. This can reduce anxiety symptoms and improve overall functioning. CBT also teaches relaxation techniques and coping skills to manage anxiety in daily life.

  • OCD:

Obsessive-compulsive disorder (OCD) is characterized by unwanted and intrusive thoughts, as well as repetitive behaviors. CBT works by helping individuals challenge their obsessive thoughts and reduce the urge to engage in compulsive behaviors. It also teaches coping skills to manage anxiety and stress associated with OCD.

Mood disorders, such as depression and bipolar disorder, can greatly impact a person’s mood and well-being. CBT is an effective treatment for these disorders as it helps individuals identify negative thought patterns that contribute to their low mood and replace them with more positive thoughts. It also focuses on developing healthy coping strategies and problem-solving skills to effectively manage emotions.

  • Chronic Pain:

CBT has been found to be helpful in managing chronic pain by teaching individuals how to change their thoughts and behaviors related to pain. This includes learning relaxation techniques, setting achievable goals, and developing healthy coping strategies. CBT can also help individuals identify and challenge negative beliefs about their pain, leading to improved quality of life.

  • Depression:

Depression is a common mental health disorder that can greatly impact an individual’s thoughts, emotions, and behaviors. CBT has been shown to be effective in treating depression by helping individuals recognize and change negative thought patterns and behaviors that contribute to their symptoms. It also focuses on developing healthy coping skills and improving self-esteem.

It empowers individuals to take an active role in their own therapy by providing them with practical tools to manage their thoughts and behaviors.
